A few little unrelated happenings around here this week /weekend. Yesterday Rohan had his first haircut. Given that he turns three in September we have waited awhile for this one! He was such an angel and seemed to love the attention - just like his Mum. ;)
Bevan finally lost the front tooth that seems to have been wiggly for ever! It feel out on the way out of school on Thursday and he was so excited.
I thought I should put in a photo of Duncan for balance. Here is not quite enjoying his haircut as much as his little brother. He was crabby because he lost the coin toss and had to go first.
And lastly, last nights cook out! The kids wanted to camp out but it freezing here at night so we compromised by putting up the tent and having a cookout on our little BBQ fire. We cooked sausages and steak and then roasted marshmallows. Duncan's friend Patrick was having a sleepover too so it was hectic but great fun. The kids finished the night by sitting around the "campfire" and telling ghost stories that were hilarious.

What the modern housewife is wearing this season..
As modelled by my able assistant, Sam, the modern housewife would not be without her cute little cafe apron whipped up this arvo in my perfect kitchen, in my perfect house! It is actually very cute and Sam seems very happy with it. Sometimes all you need is someone with an idea.

Backpack...
A dear friend of mine asked me if I could have a go at whipping her up a little backpack to carry nappies, her purse and phone, etc. Well here is my attempt. It looks pretty cute - I love the snaps on the front and the little flap. Unfortunately I am not as enamoured with the twist I managed to somehow get in one of the straps (grrrrrr). I will send it off to her anyway and hopefully she can forgive it's few little flaws based on the fact that it is gosh, darned cute!
[This is the inside in case it wasn't obvious from the get go, showing the patterned internal pockets]

Mermaids!
Now that this bag has made it's way to it's new owner I can show you all what it looks like. It is just so pretty and I am hoping that it's new owner will love it as much as I did - there was a HUGE temptation to send a "I'm so sorry but the dog ate your bag, here is your money back" email!
So here is a montage of photos showing Mermaids! from every angle, one photo just didn't do it justice...

More postie treats!
It has been a busy few weeks for the postie lately! I got another delivery from fabric.com - three lots of beautiful flannel (like I needed more) and another Alexander Henry print (the pink). Hopefully I will get through the pile of orders I have so that I can make some great jammies with the flannelettes.
I also recieved some Aran Bliss from Zen String. I think the colourway is emperor but don't quote me. It is just glorious and I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do with it. There is also some Jo Sharp Desert Garden Aran Cotton in gelato. I am think of making this with it.
Mmmm mail.....

Busy, busy, busy
Sometimes it seems that I do a whole lot and achieve absolutely nothing. I think that is where this blog is good - I can look back and see that I have indeed acheived quite a bit. I finished a pair of Twinkletoes for my Goddaughter Tayla. They don't look much sitting on the coffee table....
But modelled by the lovely Bevan (he was coerced and bribed) they look quite cool. They are knit in cheap as chips acrylic. I figure given that Tayla has a 3 yo sister and twin baby siblings her Mum doesn't need wool to handwash.
I also finally got around to making these nappy rolls for my brother's girlfriend's friends (think about it). I love these prints. The brief was unisex and funky. I think I nailed it.
